Our space offers a supported communal studio environment with opportunities to work alongside the artist facilitators, which encourages a culture of peer support. It is an ideal setting for emerging artists, or those who want to return to making art after a long break, as well as those who need additional support.

We are situated on the ground floor at Krowji creative hub in Redruth. We have level access and are very close to accessible parking and an accessible loo.

If you are unable to leave your house, we currently have a number of weekly creative Zoom sessions. These Zoom alternatives are listed on the visual art pages where you can also find contact details to get in touch with us.

Our Shallal Sketchbooks project is purpose built to connect creatively with people at home. If you aren't able to access the internet, this programme is an ideal way to start, or re-discover, a creative journey at home and get to know Shallal.

Shallal provides marketing support, a web presence and exhibition opportunities that all aim to raise the profile of our artists and create connections across the wider community. We have recently exhibited work at Newlyn Art Gallery and Grays Wharf and we have exhibitions booked at Falmouth Art Gallery and Kresen Kernow during Summer 2022.

We don't charge a day rate for using the studio, materials and equipment, but we ask for a donation of between £5-£15 a day, depending on what you can afford, and we won't turn you away if £5 is too much. We value energy exchange and in-kind help.

Our studio offers a wide range of excellent facilities so that, in addition to drawing and painting, artists can get involved with screen printing, relief printing, photography and digital art. We also respond to artists' suggestions, seeking out new mediums to enable individual projects.

If you are an experienced artist and feel that you can support other artists in developing their creative journey within our Shallal Studio, we are interested in energy exchanges and can offer free studio time in exchange for your volunteer time. Please feel free to contact us here.
