The National Lottery Community Fund

Shallal has received grants from The National Lottery Community Fund a number of times over the past few years, both small grants from their Awards for All programme and currently a larger grant from their Reaching Communities programme.

Reaching Communities is a key funder for Shallal in supporting the running of our performance dance groups and in ensuring that Shallal thrives and reaches new participants. Our three-year, £250K Reaching Communities runs until March 2023.

During the pandemic in 2020 Reaching Communities awarded Shallal additional emergency funding to support the demands of continuing provision through Covid-19 restrictions. The grant enabled Shallal to find innovative ways to support our participants at home and to reach out to new, vulnerable and isolated people through creative activities both digital and non-digital.

Our Reaching Communities funding continues to support Shallal as we transition out of the pandemic to tackle social isolation and champion cultural equality in Cornwall.

Awards for All most recently supported Shallal via our Expanding Limits Shallal Studios pilot project. The £10K grant, along with other funds, enabled us to launch our art studio at Krowji in Redruth, start getting to know the Redruth community and build evidence that an accessible studio was needed.
