Debbie O'Nyons

Bio

I have worked in Cornwall and Devon with adults and children with learning disabilities for the past 25 years, primarily as Registered Nurse for people with a learning disability, this has led to a variety of roles, my focus has always been to promote inclusion, break down barriers and challenge stereotypes. Training professionals how to ensure they are offering equality of access to services and enabling people with a learning disability how to speak up and self advocate.

Dance and creative writing have long been passions of mine and I have undertaken a variety of creative writing courses. Some years ago I began working in partnership with Shallal. I now co facilitate [Express Yourself], and created the highly successful [Aiming High Project]. I joined the main company and this led to me developing my poetry and creative writing, working in partnership with Sally Crabtree (Poet) www.thepoetree.net and producing poetry and prose for Shallal's performances.
