The Acorn

Shoreline

Shoreline was performed at The Acorn Theatre, Artistic director Jo Willis and Theatre Director Phil Jacobs. Some hilarious monologues with Suzanne Leggett, who went on to perform at The Comedy Club, London, and Shallal Dance Theatre's quirky mixture of dance, theatre image and playing with film.

"I remember some wonderful bespoke borrowed beaded hats and a beach scene with incoming tide"

Swanbake

Swanbake was one of our first shows when we restarted, returning to our old home venue the Acorn, which we now used as a rehearsal space as well. Phil Jacobs was our new theatre director and brought a playful humourous character element to it all.

Midnight Feast

Having always made compilation shows, we challenged ourselves to more and asked composer Roger Pinsent to write music for a show titled Midnight Feast.

The dancers created characters that travelled through the piece, it was colourful, quirky, tender and fun with props and costume by Helen Thomson and team,

and two new powerful dances with more contact were added as new work at the end as Rory Mcdermott joined us and brought his subtlety and skill to share.

Sea Saw

Our first show was Street Celebration - yet to find our old poster.

Sea Saw was the second, it was performed at the Acorn Theatre, Penzance and we were invited back to show it again to a full house! We became around this time, a work placement for students from the John Daniel Centre and met weekly on Fridays at St Peter's Church Hall, Newlyn.

The poster is a computer image and shows founding dancers Tim Churchman and Zoe Wilton. Zoe is now 53, she and Jo Willis 62 are the last founding members of Shallal.
