Here and Now was a dance performance project for Shallal Dance Theatre to explore and tour pure improvised 'Embodied Space' performances to audiences across Cornwall in exciting outdoor and unexpected spaces
The project linked Shallal Dance Theatre with Shallal's community dance groups Out There and Shallal 2.
Newlyn Art Gallery offered Shallal the chance to take over the gallery for three days during January 2020 in a gap between shows. The takeover weekend set the scene for our final Embodied Space performance where Shallal Dance Theatre was joined by light artist Peter Freeman. The performance followed our creative R&D time with Peter during Shallal's Back Lane West cross-art residency in October 2019. At Newlyn Art Gallery, Shallal dancers responded to Peter's changing coloured lights and soundscapes by George Bradley Peer.
Between May 2019 and January 2020 Embodied Space performances took place at:
Kestle Barton wild flower meadow
Minack Theatre carpark
Trereife House: Breeze Art and Makers Fair
The Eden Project Mediterranean Biome: Eden Arts Festival

An amazing achievement to create a performance with all three dance groups. There seemed to be a synergy between them so quickly and I felt like something was being created very raw and in the moment which was really exciting.
